How to know if Your Shilajit is Pure?

It is not easy to find authentic Shilajit because it is not only costly, but it is also very difficult to find. Old medicine, such as Ayurveda, considers it one of the most powerful compounds that give energy and strength to the human body. As a supplement, it has become quite popular in the past few years. People from around the world are interested in this powerful natural resin, because it is rich in minerals, vitamins, and other compounds. In fact, it is the only source that naturally provides you fluvic acid.

Shilajit has already been a part of Sherpas’ diet who are the natives of the Himalayan ranges and live in the Tibet and Nepal borders. They are strong men and are known to have a long lifespan. However, in recent times, Shilajit has hit the mainstream. Amidst its growing demand, so many companies have started producing fake Shilajit. Therefore, the main concern is to find authentic Shilajit.

Fake Shilajit

There are so many disreputable brands that have been selling fake Shilajit. Some of the products are real, but have very poor quality and may also contain harmful substances, while others do not have any Shilajit at all. A few of the counterfeit Shilajit products contain substances such as, ozokerite or mummyo.

In fact, these brands have been using creative yet shameful ways to make a fake resin. For example, they use solutions to create fluvic acid by using charcoal, fertilizers, and coal. Whereas, others use a mixture of various herbs to make a fake resin.

Pure Shilajit

Authentic Shilajit varies in consistency based on their geographic origin. One of the most common methods to purify Shilajit is to remove water from it with heat or by keeping it under the sunlight. A pure Shilajit is rich in fulvic acid and other minerals, such as magnesium, calcium, potassium.

Each grade has different values attached to it. However, people need to beware of the lowest grade of Shilajit that is created from animal feces. Therefore, it is very important to test the Shilajit purity before you start taking it.

How to Test Shilajit Purity?

Given below are some of the ways that will help you identify whether you are using an authentic Shilajit or not. Please make sure you are taking the product from a trusted supplier who verifies the rocks’ color from which that resin is extracted, because even a low-grade Shilajit may pass these tests

When you put an authentic Shilajit in your hand, it will melt. Also, if you let it cool in a refrigerator, it becomes very hard and breaks into crystal pieces if you hit it with something hard. However, before doing that, wrap it in a plastic bag so it doesn’t go to waste.

You can also test the Shilajit purity by mixing it with a lukewarm water or milk. It dissolves in milk and water and forms reddish or golden color.

Moreover, when you place it on fire, it will not burn. By heating it in a flame, it will create bubbles and ash will be coming out of it.

Last but not the least, avoid taking Shilajit in powder form. The powdered product only contains up to 30 percent of Shilajit in it; the rest of it is filler. Whereas, a natural substance does not have a fixed percentage of anything.
